Lexington local Marco Logsdon and Renee Shaw, aka VJ Poppins, of Washington D.C. will be premiering their two person exhibition on June 21st at the LexArts Gallery Hop.

The opening party for their show, “The Human Console,” is a free event and will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. A live video performance by Renee Shaw aka Vj Poppins will be held from 9 to 10 p.m.

“The Human Console” features new mixed media collage works by Marco Logsdon and a video installation by Renee Shaw aka VJ Poppins. This concept show plays with the idea of the body as a unit or housing for complex inner workings as seen in everyday electronic devices.

Logsdon formed his mixed media collage pieces from 1950s TV repair manuals and a book on anatomy for artists from the same era. The pieces show isolated body parts intermixed with diagrams of tubes and wiring from now defunct TV sets of the past. Shaw’s installation is an audio/visual manifestation of the fusion between the human body and technology. Together, body and technology, we are the console forming a skin that is either projected or housed in the architecture of a television.
